Sominus - Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 September 2026

Sominus is a heart-rate alarm and media-pause app. It comes as a Wear OS watch app and an Android phone app, plus an optional free Windows helper (Sominus Desktop) that lets the phone app pause a computer. This policy covers all of them.

Who we are

Sominus is made by one independent developer, who publishes it on Google Play under the developer name “Sominus Tech”. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean that developer. You can contact us at sominustech@gmail.com.

Data collection

Sominus does not collect or transmit any personal data to us, and we do not sell or share your data. We run no servers and require no account. Sensor readings are processed in real time on your own devices and are never sent to us. Google's role (watch-to-phone streaming and purchases) is described below.

Heart rate and sensors

The watch app reads your heart rate using the watch's built-in sensor. The phone app can receive a live heart rate from your Sominus watch, or from a standard Bluetooth heart-rate sensor (such as a chest strap or a sport watch in broadcast mode). In every case the reading is used on the device to compare it with the level you set and, if you turn on learning, to work out your resting pulse. It is never sent to us.

Watch-to-phone streaming

If you enable Phone Stream on the watch, your live heart rate is sent from your watch to your own paired phone by Google's Wear OS connection (the Wear OS Data Layer, part of Google Play services). Google's documentation says this connection sends data directly between the watch and phone when they are connected by Bluetooth, and that the data may also pass through Google's servers, for example over Wi-Fi or mobile data when Bluetooth isn't available. Google states that data transferred through its cloud this way is end-to-end encrypted. Google Play services is provided by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. We never receive your heart rate: it does not travel through our servers - we have none.

Bluetooth

Sominus uses Bluetooth to pause or resume playback on a TV or other device you have connected, and to find and connect to your heart-rate sensor. This works entirely locally between your devices. No Bluetooth data is sent to us.

Local network and Sominus Desktop

If you use the PC pause feature, the phone app sends a short pause or resume command to the Sominus Desktop helper on your own Wi-Fi network. The command contains no personal data. The helper listens only on your local network, needs no internet connection or account, and sends nothing anywhere. It keeps a small activity log on your computer, which is never transmitted.

Purchases

After a 7-day free trial, Sominus can be unlocked with a single one-time purchase, handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment information; that is handled directly by Google.

Third parties

Sominus does not use analytics, advertising, or any third-party tracking services.

Permissions we ask for

Body sensors (watch heart rate), Bluetooth (heart-rate sensors and TV pausing), and network access (finding your PC on your own Wi-Fi). Each is used only for the feature it names.

If you email us

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.
